FINAL RESULTS
PEORIA, Ariz. – Charleston Women's Golf sophomore Viktoria Hund polished off an impressive week at the Westbrook Invitational on Monday, finishing third out of 81 competitors to highlight The College of Charleston's week in Arizona. The Cougars tied No. 47 Oklahoma in eighth place out of 14 and bested five power conference programs with a 4-over par 868 as a team.
CofC fired a tournament-best even par 288 on Monday to wrap up a solid week. Hund led the way firing a 7-under par 209 to take third place. The sophomore carded three consecutive under-par rounds en route to the Top-3 finish. She now has four consecutive Top-13 finishes this season and three Top-10 performances during the 2021-22 campaign. Hund has racked up seven consecutive rounds of par or better and 12 overall on the season.
"Viktoria had an outstanding tournament," Futrell said. "Her play was very consistent, and she made a good run at winning it individually. We made a lot of birdies, just made a few too many mistakes to go along with those birdies. Those mistakes probably cost us a few places in a tight, competitive field."
Freshman Mary Kathryn Talledo had a consistent week following a 1-over 73 in the opening round with back-to-back even-par 72s. She finished T-21 to collect her fourth Top-25 finish in six career tournaments.
Sophomore Othilie Lied competed for the first time since October as an individual at the Westbrook Invite, and cashed in a T-37 finish. She shot a 1-under 71 in Round 2 to highlight her week.
Other Cougar performances included Emma Schimpf winding up T-46 after a 2-over 74 in the final round. Right behind her was Jodee Tindal at T-52, who carded a tournament-best 73 on Sunday.
Sophomore Emily Dunlap placed T-52 at 7-over par and Smith Knaffle finished T-71.
CofC returns home to host the Briar's Creek Invitational at Briar's Creek from March 14-15 in John's Island.
