FINAL RESULTS
CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston Women's Golf completed a fantastic second day the Briar's Creek Invitational on Tuesday to surge up the leaderboard and take third place out of 17 teams. CofC fired a 9-under par, the best score on the course, in Tuesday's third and final round to finish 8-over (293-300-279: 872) for the week. The Cougars downed 10 power conference programs in the process and edged No. 28 UCF and No. 26 Illinois.
"We just had an outstanding day, it's great to see them come back and respond after a tough afternoon yesterday," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "Third place is a stellar finish in a tournament field like this. Congrats to everyone on the team, especially Emma. She's an amazing freshman and we look forward to having her the rest of her career."
Freshman Emma Schimpf fired a 3-under 69 in the third round, one of three Cougars to card a 69 over the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Schimpf finished T-2 overall, her second-best career finish and the fourth Top-7 performance in eight career tournaments to continue a stellar rookie campaign.
Fellow freshman MK Talledo placed T-11 to secure her fifth career Top-25 performance and her fourth finish of T-13 or better. Talledo shot a 3-under 69 to cap a solid week and moved up 11 spots on the leaderboard on Tuesday.
Sophomore Viktoria Hund and senior Jodee Tindal both finished T-27 to round out strong tournaments. Hund bounced back in style from a 77 in the second round to card a 3-under 69 on Tuesday. Hund has placed 27th or better in six straight tournaments. Playing in her final career home tournament, Tindal posted a 72 on Tuesday with 16 pars to highlight her week.
Emily Dunlap put together a solid tournament to place T-48. She was anchored by a pair of 74s in Rounds 1 and 2.
