
Talledo Leads CofC as Cougs Place 15th at Liz Murphey Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston Women's Golf wrapped up the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic on Sunday afternoon. The Cougars finished 15th at the tournament behind 12 ranked opponents in what was a rigorous, competitive field.
CofC shot a 948 (322-311-315) to place 15th. The Cougars were led by freshman Mary Kathryn Talledo, who continues a steady, strong rookie season. Talledo finished T-39, using a 2-over 74 in the opening round and a 74 in the final round Sunday to move up 12 spots on the leaderboard.
"Not a good weekend for the Cougars," head coach Jamie Futrell said. "We need to regroup and get ready for next week. MK was a bright spot. She continues to get better each week."
Sophomore sensation Viktoria Hund bounced back from a tough day on Friday with back-to-back solid days in Rounds 2 and 3. Hund followed a 75 on Saturday with a 77 on Sunday to place T-55. She was followed by Smith Knaffle at T-63 and freshman Emma Schimpf at T-69, respectively. Knaffle competed as an individual and was anchored by a 77 on Sunday.
Senior Jodee Tindal placed T-74, highlighted by a 4-over 76 in Round 2. Sophomore Emily Dunlap placed 80th.
The average round score at the grueling tournament in Athens, Georgia at the University of Georgia Golf Course was 77.08 throughout the weekend.
