RICHMOND, VA. – Three College of Charleston players have earned spots on the All-CAA team in voting by the league's head coaches.
Junior midfielder
Leonardo D'Ambrosio and freshman forward
Peter Thomas were named to the second team, and graduate student defender
Ethan Garvey was chosen to the third team. Thomas was also selected to the all-rookie squad.
D'Ambrosio, who was also on the second team a year ago, finished the regular season tied for third in the CAA with eight assists, tied for eighth with six goals and fifth with 20 points. He had game-winning goals against Drexel, USC Upstate and Winthrop.
After missing his freshman season with an injury, D'Ambrosio has totaled 10 goals and 13 assists for 33 points over the past two years.Â
Thomas led the Cougars and is currently tied for sixth in the conference with seven goals and is tied for sixth with 17 points. He was named CAA Rookie of the Week on October 15 after scoring three goals against Georgia Southern and William & Mary, including a brace in an important victory over the Tribe.
Thomas scored just one minute into his collegiate debut against Stetson and had a goal in the 72nd minute that gave the Cougars a 2-1 lead over nationally-ranked Duke before the Blue Devils rallied.
Garvey was a standout on the Charleston back line in his first season after transferring from Evansville. He started all 17 games and was on the field for 1,478 of a possible 1,530 minutes, helping the Cougars post three shutouts while allowing only 22 goals.Â
Garvey was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Week on September 4 after spearheading an effort that limited a strong Drexel team to only eight shots and just two on target in a 2-1 Cougar victory.
