
Cougars Bring Undefeated Start into Match with Coastal Carolina

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston looks to remain unbeaten on the young season when the Cougars host Coastal Carolina on Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Ralph Lundy Field.
Charleston is coming off a 2-1 win over Drexel in its CAA opener on Saturday. Leonardo D'Ambrosio scored the winning goal on a PK in the final minute, and Damon Williams also scored on an assist from Peter Thomas. The win made the Cougars 1-0-2 and 1-0 in the CAA for the second straight season.
Williams and D'Ambrosio became the fourth and fifth different Cougar to score a goal this fall, and D'Ambrosio also has two assists. Olly Marshall has played all 270 minutes and has 10 saves, a 1.33 goals against average and a .714 save percentage.
The Chanticleers are playing their first road game after the starting the year with two wins in three outings at home, including a 2-1 victory over CAA member William & Mary. Deryn Armstrong has a goal and assist, and Kilian Vallant has 14 goals, a 1.00 GAA and .824 save percentage.
The long series dates back to the 1978 season, and the Chanticleers hold a 20-10-4 lead including 10 wins and two ties in 18 meetings in Charleston. Coastal won the last matchup in Conway in 2021 by a score of 2-1.
