CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston will host two tournaments as part of a 33-game home softball schedule, head coach Tracey Lynch announced Tuesday.
The Cougars open the 2025 season with the Charleston Invitational on Feb. 7-9 with Fordham, North Dakota State and Virginia Tech providing the opposition. Two weeks later, Dartmouth, Rhode Island and Ohio visit Patriots Point for the Lowcountry Classic.
Charleston plays in a third tournament on Feb. 28-March 2 when they travel to Tallahassee, Fla., for the Dugout Club Classic hosted by perennial national power Florida State. The Cougars take on the Seminoles on March 1 while also facing Florida Gulf Coast and Mercer.
The Cougars play five of their nine CAA series at home beginning with back-to-back sets against Hampton (March 7-9) and UNCW (March 14-16). Charleston also hosts Drexel (March 28-30), Towson (April 11-13) and Campbell (April 25-27) in conference play.
The Camels are the defending CAA regular season champions and will host the conference tournament in Buies Creek, N.C., beginning May 7.
"We have a strong schedule of regional opponents this year that will prepare us for CAA play," said Lynch. "With 18 of the 27 players on our roster being new to the program, I hope to surprise people this year with the different look we will bring to the field.
"Our returners were eager to get back this fall and get to work. They have worked diligently on establishing the culture and have worked together on what they want this team to be about."
In non-conference play, the Cougars will take on a familiar group of in-state rivals, including home games against Winthrop (March 18), Presbyterian (March 26) and Coastal Carolina (April 1) and dates at USC Upstate (March 4), Wofford (March 5), SC State (March 12) and Charleston Southern (April 15).
"This team is filled with depth and a whole lot of personality which has made them really entertaining to watch and work with," said Lynch. "The depth has increased the internal competition to a whole new level.
"We have a lot of opportunities to be seen at Patriots this year and hope to continue to increase the excitement for Charleston softball in the community."
