11/26/2024 11:05:00 AM

CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston volleyball head coach Jason Kepner has announced the signing of four players to the 2025 roster.

"It's another great day for the Cougar volleyball program," said Kepner. "I am so excited to add this group to our program. They are all outstanding volleyball players, but more importantly, they are first class people and students. They will fit in right away and thrive in our culture and gym. Welcome to the family."

Jumana Martin – Libero – Fort Mill, S.C.
Jumana Martin joins the program in the spring following three seasons at Nation Ford. The libero tallied 1,470 digs and 157 aces in prep school under head coach Craig Brown and holds the Nation Ford High School Dig Record. A 2023 Wando Invitational and 2024 Dorman Tournament All-Tournament Team member, Martin was named 2024 AVCA High School All-America Third Team.

"Jumana is one of the best liberos in the country," said Kepner. "Her instincts on the court really help put her in great position defensively. She has great touch and range. I am so excited to see the impact she can have for us in the spring."

Caroline Noonan – Middle Blocker – Charlotte, N.C.
Caroline Noonan comes to Charleston in the spring from Charlotte Christian School, where she was named the 2024 Charlotte Independent School Athletic Association (CISAA) Player of the Year. During her senior campaign, Noonan hit .437 with 257 kills, 131 digs, 69 aces and 26 blocks while also being named First Team All-Conference and NCISAA All-State.

"Caroline is a great all-around volleyball player," said Kepner. "She has experience at every fron row position. As a middle, she reads the game very well and has great footwork. She is up quick and can terminate. I am excited to get her in the gym this January and work with her all spring."

Sydney Bates – Setter – Portage, Mich.
Sydney Bates heads to the Holy City in the fall following four seasons at Portage Northern. Bates was a District Champion all four years and the 2024 Conference Champion. A Second Team All-Conference her freshman season, Bates garnered First Team honors the last three years and was Third Team All-State following her junior campaign.

"I am excited to add Sydney to the roster next fall," said Kepner. "She has great touch on the ball and really knows how to run an offense. You can really see her leadership on the court and knows how to keep everyone involved in the game. Sydney is very aggressive in the front row and a faster defender back row."

Makena Parthen – Middle Blocker – Colorado Springs, Colo.
Makena Parthen joins the Cougars after four years at Cheyenne Mountain. An experienced middle, Parthen and her club team were three-time regional champions and advances to the State Championships. Following her junior season, Parthen was named Second Team All-State, First Team All-Conference and First Team Academic All-State.

Makena is a super quick and springy middle," said Kepner. "She has great lateral speed and outstanding hands for blocking. She ca hit all the sets and is very effective on both sides of the ball. I can't wait to add her to the gym this fall."
