10/13/2025 2:00:00 PM

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston freshman Jumana Martin was named the Coastal Athletic Association Co-Defensive Player of the Week Monday.

Martin shared the weekly award with Hofstra's Lilia Duczek.

Martin was once again dominant for Charleston, averaging 7.00 digs per set over the weekend. In Friday's victory over North Carolina A&T, Martin recorded 24 digs in just three sets, helping hold the Aggies to a .121 hitting percentage. Her 24 digs are fourth-most in a three-set match in the rally-scoring era (2001). In Saturday's match, the freshman had a career-best 32 digs for the Cougars, becoming just the fifth Cougar since 2001 to have at least 32 digs in a match.

Martin earned her second weekly honor after being named CAA Co-Rookie of the Week Oct. 6 after averaged 4.63 digs per set in the sweep at Campbell.

Martin is the third Charleston freshman to earn a weekly award this year, joining Caroline Noonan and Makena Parthen. Noonan has been named Offensive and Rookie of the Week this season.

The Cougars hit the road to take on Northeastern Oct. 18-19. Serve times are set for 1 p.m. and noon from the Cabot Center in Boston.
