CHARLESTON, S.C. - The College of Charleston's men's soccer team is set to travel to Elon to face No.18 Hofstra in the first round of the CAA Tournament on Thursday, November 7.
The Cougars finished their regular season 4-2-2 in conference play, wrapping up their conference slate with a loss at Drexel on Saturday.
Finishing fifth in the CAA standings, Charleston will rematch against the Pride after hosting them two weeks prior and finding the 3-1 win to clinch a spot in postseason play.
Hofstra enters the postseason as the three-time defending conference champion, coming off a 4-0 win over Delaware in their regular season finale. The Pride finished 5-3 in conference play and 11-4-2 on the season.
In the matchup between the two at Patriots Point, the Cougars took the early lead against Hofstra when a shot from Leonardo D'Ambrosio on the right side slipped past the Hofstra defense and found the back of the net.
Charleston doubled the lead in the 21st minute when a cross from D'Ambrosio on the right side found Ryan Watson in the box, who headed the ball for their second. Charleston sealed the game in the 74th minute when a ball from Tom Wilson found Adil Iggoute in the box, who found the bottom left corner of the net for their third and final goal.
