Cougars Travel to UNCW

WILMINGTON, N.C. – College of Charleston heads on the road for the final time in the regular season to play UNCW Nov. 9 and 10. Opening serves from Hanover Hall are slated for 4 p.m. and 1 p.m. with both contests airing on FloVolleyball.
 
 
OPENING SERVE:
  • Charleston punched its ticket to the 2024 CAA Championships, which will take place Nov. 21-23 in Towson, Md.
  • The Cougars have made the conference tournament in 17 of head coach Jason Kepner's 18 seasons.
  • CofC swept Hampton last weekend at home, improving to 19-8 overall, 11-3 in the CAA and 15-1 in TD Arena. The team's 15 home victories are the most since 2010.
  • Caitlyn Callahan has tallied 123 total blocks in 2024, which are the most in a season by a Cougar since Jane Feddersen's 123 in 2017. Callahan is one block shy of cracking the top 10 in the Rally Scoring Era in program history.
  • Callahan also returns to Wilmington, where she spent the 2022 and 2023 seasons.
  • Charleston's 276.5 total blocks are tenth all-time in program history and currently rank second in the country.
 
SCOUTING UNCW:
  • UNCW is 7-14 overall this season and 4-10 in the CAA. Dottie Hampton is in her fifth season leading the Seahawks and has a record of 32.81. A'siya Magazine leads the team with 2.43 kills/set while Grace Melnick leads the defensive side with 95 total blocks. Quinn Marley's 4.21 digs/set is fifth in the conference.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Charleston is 30-11 against UNCW all-time and winners in 13 of the last 14 meetings. Six of the 13 victories have come in straight sets. The Cougars are 11-3 in three sets and 12-3 when matches go to four frames.
 
UP NEXT:
  • Charleston hosts Northeastern in the final weekend of the regular season Nov. 15 and 16. Both matches are 1 p.m. The Cougars will celebrate its 50th season all weekend and will honor the senior class prior to Saturday's contest.
