
Women's Golf Aims to Defend Title in Southport

SOUTHPORT, N.C. - The College of Charleston women's golf team will compete in the 2024 Coastal Athletic Association Women's Golf Championship from April 12-14 in at The Reserve Club at St. James in Southport, North Carolina.
The Cougars currently rank 59th in the NCAA Power Rankings, the highest of any team competing in the league championship. Charleston will be looking for their third consecutive title.
Charleston most recently finished 11th overall in the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic. Adrian Anderson finished T7 to lead the Cougars, playing an even par final round, including an eagle on 11. Anderson earned CAA Player of the Week honors following the tournament.
The Cougars have finished first in the CAA Women's Golf Championship two seasons in a row and five times overall since joining the CAA in Fall 2013. Last year, the Cougars played a CAA tournament team record 17-over-880 (295-292-293) to secure the title.
Emma Schimpf won the individual title during last year's tournament with a 3-under performance, the only competitor under par for the entire championship. Schimpf became the second consecutive College of Charleston individual champion and third all-time as well as the CAA's Women's Golf Player of the Year. Additionally, head coach Jamie Futrell was named the CAA's Women's Golf Coach of the Year.
