
Brown, Bevacqua Lead Cougars at Buccaneer Invitational

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Sophia Brown led a group of five College of Charleston women in the top 12 to highlight the Cougar cross country team's performance at the Buccaneer Invitational on Friday.
Brown covered the 5k distance in a time of 18:17.3 to lead Charleston to a second-place finish in the team standings with 37 points, just eight behind host Charleston Southern. Cayden Crismon posted a PR of 18:50.4 to take fifth, and Savannah Stoutt was seventh in 19:06.0.
Andie Harding (11th, PR of 19:22.2) and freshman Bella Hudson (12th, 19:23.7) rounded out the Cougar scorers. Three other freshmen – Aine Trapp (19:29.8), Alyssa Boucher (19:34.1) and Abby Mogg (19:54.9) – also finished in the top 20.
Freshman Justin Bevacqua led the men by taking 16th place with a time of 20:23.2 in the 6k race with five other Cougars finishing in the top 30.
Roger Brown (22nd, 20:32.0), Nathan Hallar (24th, 20:34.4), Rob DiMedio (26th, 20:40.0) and Ben Ashmore (27th, 20:42.9) also scored for Charleston, which was fourth in the team results. Tucker Green finished 30th in 21:10.6.
The Cougars are off next week before traveling to Boone, N.C., on Friday, September 13 to compete in the Firetower Project.
