Cougars Set to Compete at Firetower Project

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston cross country teams return to action Friday when they compete at the Firetower Project at the Don Kennedy Trails at State Farm in Boone, N.C.
The men's 8k is scheduled for 6 p.m. followed by the women's 6k at 6:40. The 11-team field includes host Appalachian State, Augusta, Erskine, King, Mars Hill, Marshall, Milligan, Radford, Wake Forest and Warren Wilson.
The Cougars began the season two weeks ago at the Buccaneer Invitational. Sophia Brown led a trio of women in the top 10 and a second-place finish in the team standings. She was followed by Cayden Crismon in fifth and Savannah Stoutt in seventh.
Freshman Justin Bevacqua made his collegiate debut a successful one by taking 16th place while two other Charleston runners finished in the top 25, including Roger Brown in 22nd and Nathan Hallar in 24th.
Following Friday's meet, the Cougars are off until September 28 when they travel to Rock Hill, S.C., for the Adidas/Winthrop Invitational.
