CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team will travel to Elon for their final regular season game of the 2025 slate Sunday, October 26. The match is set to begin at 1:00 p.m.
Entering the last match of the season, Charleston has an 8-6-2 overall record and a 4-3-1 conference record. The Cougars currently sit in fourth place in the South Division, behind UNCW, Elon, and William & Mary.
Charleston has defeated Monmouth, Northeastern, Hampton, and Hofstra in conference play.
The last time out, Charleston defeated Hofstra 1-0 for the final home match of the regular season. The match marked The College's sixth shutout this season. Charleston took 13 shots in the game while the Pride took only four. Emma Wennar scored the lone goal of the afternoon, her fifth of the season, in the 64th minute off an assist from Caroline Fowlkes. Goalkeeper Ainsley Chunn had one save on the day.
Four Cougars have found five goals this season with Bella Antonio leading the team in points with 14. Antonio and Maggie Heffernan have recorded braces this season over Monmouth and Hampton.
As a team, the Cougars have outshot all opponents 289 to 119 and lead the conference in shots taken. Charleston has drawn 103 corners this season across all games, the most of any CAA team. The Cougars are tied for third in the conference in goals scored with 30 so far this season.
Elon sits at 9-2-4 overall and 3-2-2 in conference play. The Phoenix remain unbeaten at home with a 5-0-2 record. In the conference, Elon has defeated Towson, Drexel, and Campbell.
Charleston has played Elon 26 times with an 11-13-2 overall record against the Phoenix. On the road, The College has gone 4-5-1. The two teams played their first match in 1999 at Elon where Charleston took the points in a 2-0 win.
Most recently, Charleston met Elon in the CAA Tournament October 31, 2024, and fell 2-1. Two weeks prior, Charleston hosted Elon and defeated the Phoenix 3-0.
Charleston looks to secure the final spot in the CAA Tournament with a win on Sunday. To clinch the No. 3 seed, Charleston needs a win over Elon. Charleston can claim the No. 2 seed in the South Division with a win over Elon and a William & Mary draw/loss.
