Charleston Travels to High Point for Non-Conference Finale

HIGH POINT, N.C. – College of Charleston volleyball concludes its non-conference schedule with a midweek contest at High Point Oct. 28. First serve is set for 6 p.m. from the Millis Center with the match airing live on ESPN+.
 
OPENING SERVE:
  • Charleston won its fourth straight match with a weekend sweep of UNCW.
  • The four set and straight-set victories gives the Cougars 10 straight wins over the Seahawks and wins in 18 of the last 19 matches.
  • Graduate Izzy Marinelli had a career day in Friday's win recording a career-high 20 kills and 17 digs for her second straight double-double, the only two matches recording the feat.
  • Freshman Caroline Noonan recorded at least one kill, block, dig, assist and service ace in both wins against UNCW.
  • On Saturday, Noonan hit .650 with 13 kills, four digs and a pair of service aces and blocks.
  • Freshman Jumana Martin led the CAA and was second in the nation for the week with 6.57 digs per set. Martin had 26 digs and six assists Friday before tallying 20 digs and four assists in Saturday's victory.
  • Martin was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts, her third weekly award in the month of October.
  • The libero sits atop the conference with 5.16 digs per set and 253 digs in 12 CAA matches while her total digs are ninth nationally and 4.98 digs per set are 14th. 
  • Charleston's seven wins in the month of October are the most under head coach Jason Kepner since the team went 9-0 in 2017.
 
SCOUTING HIGH POINT
  • High Point holds a 10-9 overall record and 6-2 mark in the Big South this season. Tuesday will be just the Panthers fifth home match of the campaign, who carry a 3-1 home record.
  • Elodie Lalonde is averaging 3.88 kills per set (248 total kills) on the offensive side of the attack while freshman Maya Bukovcan has 92.0 blocks at the net for High Point, averaging nearly 1.30 blocks per frame.
 
SERIES HISTORY:
  • Charleston is 1-0 in the series with High Point, earning a 3-0 win in the lone meeting between the teams on Sept. 10, 1999.
 
UP NEXT:
  • Charleston has the weekend off before continuing its road swing at William & Mary Nov. 6 and 7. Serve times from Kaplan Arena are set for 6 p.m. and 2 p.m.
