RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston freshman Jumana Martin was named the Coastal Athletic Association Co-Defensive Player of the Week Monday. 
 
Martin shared the weekly award with Campbell's Hailey Heytvelt.
 
Martin paced the league with 6.57 digs per set as Charleston won both matches against UNCW this past weekend. In Friday's victory, Martin had 26 digs and six assists across the four sets. On Saturday, the Fort Mill, S.C., native was once again a key part in the Cougar backline, digging out 20 balls and dishing out four assists in the straight set sweep. 
 
Martin's 6.57 digs per set were second-best in the nation over the week while she sits atop the conference with 5.16 digs per set and 253 digs in 12 CAA matches.
 
The freshman earned her third weekly award after being named Co-Rookie of the Week Oct. 6 and Co-Defensive Player of the Week Oct. 13.
 
The Cougars wrap up the non-conference schedule Oct. 28 with a 6 p.m. match at High Point.
