Cougs Beat No. 21 Coastal Carolina

MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball defeated No. 21 Coastal Carolina on Tuesday evening at Patriots Point.

The Cougars improve to 23-16 overall, sweeping the season series over the Chanticleers, who slip to 30-11.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST COASTAL CAROLINA:
  • CofC plated its first run of the ballgame in the second as graduate Avery Neaves stole home on a first and third steal attempt.
  • Senior Dariyan Pendergrass collected two RBI Tuesday, making it a 2-0 contest in the fifth on an RBI groundout before singling in the seventh to bring home freshman Alex LaCoste.
  • After surrendering a two-run homer in the top of the eighth, freshman Matthew Dominianni's bases loaded walk gave the Cougars a 4-2 advantage.
  • Freshman Drew Medley made his first collegiate start, tossing 2.1 scoreless frames. Senior Garrick Murray followed Medley, not allowing a run in two innings of his own.
  • Senior Davis Aiken came into the game in the eighth, collecting the six-out save, his eighth of the campaign.

  • Charleston now sits 28-27 all-time against Coastal Carolina and improve to 18-8 at home.
  • The Cougars picked up their first ranked victory since opening the 2023 season with a 5-2 win over No. 14 Virginia Tech.
  • 8 of CofC's 28 wins versus the Chanticleers have come when Coastal is ranked. All of the ranked victories have come since 2009.
  • Head coach Chad Holbrook picked up his seventh ranked win leading the Cougars, three of which have come against Coastal Carolina.
  • CofC improves to 6-2 on Tuesdays in 2025 and are now 216-12 when leading after the eighth inning under Holbrook.
