MT PLEASANT, S.C. – College of Charleston baseball lost the series opener to UNCW Friday evening 9-1 at Patriots Point.

CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST UNCW:
- Redshirt junior Ethan Plyler launched his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the third to give the Cougars a 1-0 advantage.
- The Seahawks plated nine unanswered runs, beginning with a five-spot in the fourth.
- UNCW tacked on a sixth run in the fifth before capping off the night with a three-run homer in the eighth.
- Senior Aidan Hunter tossed three shutout innings out of the bullpen in his first relief appearance of the year.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 24-25 all-time against UNCW and 15-9 at home.
- Plyler's homer went 433 feet, the longest long ball by a Cougar this season.
- Redshirt junior Peyton Nelson made his first outing of the season in the eighth.
