Mathis Named CAA Pitcher of the Week

RICHMOND, VA. – Mackenzie Mathis was named CAA Pitcher of the Week for the second time this season Monday, March 23.
Mathis was named Co-Pitcher of the Week along with Anna Dew of Elon.
Mathis tossed 10 scoreless innings of work in a series win over N.C. A&T, striking out 12 batters and surrendering just five hits.
The sophomore hurler tossed a complete-game shutout to open the weekend, striking out 10 and allowing just four baserunners in seven innings of action.
The Lexington, S.C., native came on in relief in the series finale and dominated in her three frames of work. Mathis faced 10 batters and struck out two Aggies to seal the series victory with a 2-1 win.
The Cougars return to action Tuesday, March 24 at Georgia Southern for a single mid-week contest. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. and the game will be streamed through ESPN+ with the link to watch here.
