Charleston, S.C. - The College of Charleston women's soccer team is set to face off against Ole Miss this Thursday at Patriots Point at 8:00pm.
Most recently, the Cougars earned a draw in their match against USC Upstate at home on Sunday.
Charleston fell behind early when the Spartans scored in the ninth minute on a corner kick, but defender Caitlyn Toubia tied it up in the 37th minute by scoring her first career goal on a shot from past midfield.
Several defensive plays in the final minutes by goalkeeper Ainsley Chunn held the Spartans at one goal and secured the draw.
Senior Bella Antonio currently leads the team with four points after scoring two goals in the Cougar's opening match against Southern Utah last week. Graduate Maggie Wadsworth leads the team in shots with six, followed by Mary Martin Spinner with four.
The match on Thursday marks the first meeting in program history between the College of Charleston and Ole Miss. The Cougars are seeking their second SEC win in program history, the first being in 1997 when Charleston beat South Carolina 2-0. This will be the eighth SEC matchup for Charleston women's soccer in the last five years, and 27th all-time.
The Rebels are currently undefeated on the season after defeating Murray State and Louisiana in opening week. This will be their first season under new Head Coach, Todd Shulenberger.
Admission to the match is free and will also feature a College of Charleston branded cowboy hat giveaway at the gate (while supplies last) to go along with the Country Night promotion.
The match will also be streamed on FloCollege and the FloSports Channel on Amazon Prime Video.
