CofC Falls At Furman, 2-0

Shea Salinas' one goal and one assist in the second half paced Furman to victory over the College of Charleston in men's soccer action, 2-0, at Stone Soccer Stadium in Greenville, S.C., on Wednesday evening.
With the victory, Furman improves to 9-5-1 overall and 4-1-1 in SoCon action this season. The loss drops CofC to 9-7-1 overall and 4-2-0 in the SoCon.
The first half was scoreless, in which CofC took four shots and no corner kicks, while Furman attempted four shots and two corner kicks. Salinas and Nasarachi Onyeuku from Furman each received yellow cards in the first half.
Shea Salinas scored the first goal of the match in the 62nd minute to give Furman the lead, 1-0. Salinas netted home a crossing pass from Chris Davis to score the goal. Rob Victor also received credit for the assist.
Patrick Murphy scored the second goal of the match 69th minute to give Furman the two goal advantage, 2-0. Salinas received credit for the assist.
Junior Corbin Waller had four saves in the match for the Cougars. Bryan Amos had three saves in the shutout for Furman.
The Cougars return to action on Oct. 21, when they face Appalachian State in Boone, N.C. The match begins at 3 p.m.
