Furman Hands College Of Charleston First Conference Los

The Furman men's tennis team moved into a tie for first place in the Southern Conference with a 6-1 win over College of Charleston Sunday afternoon at the Mickel Tennis Center.
With the win the Paladins improved their record to 16-10, 7-1 in conference play and handed the Cougars their first conference loss. They fall to 16-4 and 7-1 in teh league.
Furman took the early lead picking up wins in two of the three doubles matches. College of Charleston took the flight one match with Or Dekel and Marcus DiGliodo downing Ben Pauluhn and Greg Maarschalk 8-6. Furman trailed in the two other matches but rallied to win both matches 8-6. Brian Crook and Bo Ladyman defeated Omer Abramovich and Mike Reynolds in flight two with Andy Juc and Scott Kahler winning over Justin Malina and James Petit in flight three.
Furman took a quick 2-0 lead when Daniel Knause eased by Mike Reynolds 6-1, 6-0. College of Charleston moved the match to 2-1 when Ashok Ramachandra downed Chris Gilli 6-4, 6-3 in flight six. Bo Ladyman then put the Paladins within one with a 6-2, 6-3 victory over Omer Abramovich in flight four. Furman senior Greg Maarschalk, playing in his final match at the Mickel Tennis Center, sealed the victory for the Paladins with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Justin Malina in flight three. Playing at No.5 Andy Juc gave the Paladins a 5-1 lead with a 6-1, 7-6(2) victory over Marcus DiGliodo. Furman senior Ben Pauluhn, also playing in his final match at home, rounded off the Paladin effort with a 1-6, 6-2, 7-5 win over Or Dekel making the final score 6-1.
Furman travels to Chattanooga, TN on Thursday for their regular season finale against UT Chattanooga at 2:30. The Cougars travel to Wofford April 10th for a 1:30 match Monday against WOfford.
