The College of Charleston men's tennis team won its season opener against North Florida, 5-2, on Saturday at the Patriots Point Tennis Center.
Charleston's record now stands at 1-0 while North Florida drops to 0-3 this season.
North Florida earned one point for winning two out of the three doubles matches, but CofC won five out of the six singles matches for the victory.
“I'm very happy with the results of our first match of the season,” said CofC head men's tennis coach Phil Whitesell. “North Florida is a very good team that has a strong chance to win its conference, so a victory over them was great for us, especially our wins in the singles portion of the match.”

North Florida's next match will be at Auburn on Feb. 4 beginning at 2:30 p.m. The Cougars will return to action on Feb. 14 when they host Winthrop at the Patriots Point Tennis Center beginning at 1 p.m.
