Charleston, S.C. -- The 8th-seeded College of Charleston men's tennis team advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2008 Southern Conference Men's Tennis Championships with a 4-2 win over 9th-seeded Chattanooga at the City of Charleston's Farmfield Courts on Thursday.
The Cougars, who improved to 8-16, take on top-seeded Furman at 8:30 a.m. at the Earle Tennis Center on The Citadel campus on Friday. UTC ends the season with a 12-10 record.
After the Cougars claimed the doubles point, Omer Abramovich downed Peter Sauska 6-4, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Chris Carlton earned a 6-2, 3-6, 6-1 win over Rick vande Bovenkamp at No. 5 and Ross Moyer beat Robert Diamond 6-4, 6-0 at No. 6 singles play.
