
CofC Women?s Tennis Sweeps Wofford, 7-0

SPARTANBURG, S.C. ? The College of Charleston women's tennis team shutout Wofford, 7-0 in Southern Conference action today.
With the win, the Cougars improve to 18-3 and a perfect 6-0 in the Southern Conference. Charleston also extended their match-winning streak to 10. Wofford falls to 2-12 overall, 1-6 in the SoCon with the loss.
CofC returns to action tomorrow when they travel to Western Carolina beginning at 10:00 a.m.
The Cougars won two of the three matches contested at doubles to earn a team point, then won each of the six matches in singles, all of which came in straight sets.
Charleston was led in singles by Kinsey Casey, who swept Betsy Hauer 6-0, 6-0 in the number five spot and Anna Lee Evans, who defeated Sabrina Smyers 6-3, 6-1 at number two singles.
Other straight set winners for the Cougars included Laura Borza, who knocked off Cayley Wetzig 6-4, 6-4 at number one singles and Caroline Newman, who at number two singles was a 6-1, 6-0 winner over Haley Baird.
The final straight set victors on the day for Charleston were Keely Mulligan, who was a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Sonia Anand at number four and Nina Burgoon, who earned a 7-6 (7-4), 6-0 decision over Kristin Demsothenes in the number six spot.
