Men?s Tennis Wins Sixth Straight; Aces No. 57 Iowa Hawkeyes

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The No. 75-ranked College of Charleston men's tennis team won their sixth match on the trot Friday, downing the No. 57-ranked Hawkeyes of Iowa, 5-2 at the CofC Tennis Complex.
“Great win for the team,” said CofC head coach Jay Bruner. “Everyone contributed to this victory. Iowa is a strong team that pushed us to improve and raise our game. It was a great effort.”
In their second win over a ranked team this season, the Cougars fought hard to win the doubles point. After losing on court one, the Cougar duos of Alon Faiman and Zack Lewis, as well as Crescente Lesser and Rodrigo Encinas, captured the point, defeating their Hawkeye opponents, 8-6 and 8-4, respectively, on court two and three.
In singles, the Cougars (9-3) again fell on court one, but rallied to victory through great performances by Encinas and Lesser on courts two and three, as well as Zack Lewis and Alon Faiman on courts five and six, to hand the Cougars their ninth win of the season and fourth on home court.
Next up for The College is a Sunday, Mar. 16, away match with the Osprey of North Florida University at the UNF Tennis Complex, where doubles is set to commence at 2 p.m.
