3/16/2014 11:57:00 PM | Men's Tennis
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The No. 75-ranked College of Charleston men's tennis team fell on the road Sunday to the University of North Florida Osprey, 5-2, at the UNF Tennis Complex.
“North Florida was just too tough,” said CofC head coach Jay Bruner. “We gave ourselves some chances today, but did not finish. We responded well after a slow start and will keep working this week to prepare for another CAA match with Hofstra.”
UNF (8-9) jumped on the Cougars (9-4) early, claiming victory on courts one and two in doubles play to take the point; rendering the court three match moot.
In singles, the Cougars responded to the quick dismissal of Rodrigo Encinas on court two, with a victory on court six, where Alon Faiman dispatched of Bernard Craveiro, 6-3, 6-1. With the score at 2-1, Brice Allanic lost on court one to Jack Findel-Hawkins, 6-3, 7-6 (7-1), to put the Osprey on the brink and Yannick Zuern clinched the match for UNF with 6-7, (5-7), 6-2, 6-4 victory over Cougar senior Crescente Lesser.
The loss to North Florida ends a six-match winning streak for the Cougars, who had not lost since a Feb. 16, defeat at UNC Wilmington.
