CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston men's soccer team (3-5-2; 0-1-2) resumes conference play this Saturday at Patriots Point, where it will host the James Madison Dukes (4-4-3; 1-0-2) at 7 p.m.
Saturday will not only be Hero Day, but will also be a Pups on the Pitch game. Fans may bring dogs and receive free toys for their four-legged friends, while active duty service members, first responders and veterans can receive two free tickets by making an RSVP.
The Cougars come off a 2-1 road win over the North Florida Ospreys on Wednesday. Freshman forward Jake Nicholson had a two-goal explosion, cracking the scoresheet for the first time this season with goals in both the first and second halves. Kevin Shields had a huge night as well, batting away eight saves on the night to preserve the win for CofC.
The College and JMU have played one another five times on record, with the Cougars holding a 2-2-1 record against the Dukes. CofC defeated JMU 2-1 last year for the first time since 2013, thanks to an overtime goal from Nicolas Jeausseran in the 96th minute.
The Dukes have a 1-2-2 record through their last five games, with their most recent contest a 6-0 defeat at the hands of No. 5 North Carolina. Niclas Mohr (3g, 3a) leads the team offensively, and is among five players on the squad with at least six points. TJ Bush and Sean Connolly have split time evenly this season, combining for 33 saves and 20 goals allowed.
Tickets are still available by visiting CofCSports.com/Tickets or by calling (843) 953-COFC.
