BURLINGTON, N.C. – The No. 4 seeded College of Charleston men's tennis team (14-7) advanced to the semifinals on Friday, cruising past the James Madison Dukes (14-9) by a score of 4-0.
The Cougars will match up with No. 1 seeded UNCW on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Jimmy Powell Tennis Center in Elon, N.C.
The Dukes snared the first match in doubles play, but the Cougars responded with a 6-2 win on court three to knot up the point. CofC then pulled off the win on court one by a score of 6-4 to go up 1-0 in the match.
In singles play, Fernando Ramirez Lascurian was the first player finished, defeating Tate Steinour 6-2, 6-4 on court five. Benedikt Henning was the next one through, overcoming Paul Mendoza 6-2, 7-5 in the second flight to put James Madison on the 3-0 brink.
