Cougars Blitz Clemson to Clinch Berth in NIVC Semifinals

CLEMSON, S.C. --- Devon Rachel (Louisville, Ky.) slammed down a match-high 18 kills to lead the College of Charleston volleyball team to a straight-set sweep of Clemson on Thursday evening, and book a trip to the semifinal round of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship.
With the victory, College of Charleston (24-11) sets up a high-powered semifinal matchup with Tulane (28-8) on Saturday evening at 7:00 p.m. in New Orleans, La. The Cougars won the match by scores 25-22, 25-23, and 25-19 to register the fourth sweep of a Power Five program in school history.
Charleston combined for 47 kills, 23 digs, seven blocks, five service aces, and a .355 hitting percentage en route to its 11th sweep of the season. The Cougars held Clemson (19-15) to 40 kills, 25 digs, four blocks, and a .258 attacking clip.
Rachel delivered a dominating performance with 18 kills, six digs, two service aces, and a .438 (18-4-32) hitting percentage to pace the Cougars' potent attack. Kennedy Madison (Evansville, Ind.) added 11 kills, two blocks, and a .474 (11-2-19) attacking clip, as Lauren Freed (Troy, Ohio) chipped in seven kills, four digs, and two blocks.
Peyton Eisnaugle (Dallas, Texas) put down six kills on nine attempts to finish with a .536 (6-1-9) hitting percentage to go along with two blocks. Allison Beckman (Apex, N.C.) dished out a match-high 42 assists, as McKala Rhodes (Charleston, S.C.) and Mandy Napierala (Rochester, N.Y.) posted contest-bests of seven digs and three blocks, respectively. Rhodes also dropped in a pair of service aces.
Solei Thomas led the way for Clemson with 12 kills and a .562 (12-3-16) hitting percentage, as Bailey Brooke added 11 kills. Gabby Easton accounted for 37 assists, and Ava Pritchard recorded seven kills, two blocks, and a .600 (7-1-10) clip on the attack. Emily Curtis paced the Tigers with seven digs.
The Cougars now advance to the NIVC Semifinals where they will face Tulane on Saturday, December 8, in New Orleans, La. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
