2019 Schedule
CHARLESTON, S.C. – College of Charleston head women's soccer coach Christian Michner has announced the Cougars 2019 schedule. The slate will feature 10 home matches at Patriots Point Soccer Complex, including the now-annual Charleston Under Armour Invitational Tournament, as well as 10 road contests.
The Cougars will be tested early in a couple of exhibition matchups against Coastal Carolina (Aug. 11) and N.C. State (Aug. 17) before opening the regular season with the Charleston Under Armour Invitational. The College will play host to Stephen F. Austin in the 2019 home opener on Aug. 23 before facing Furman on Aug. 25.
"We're excited about the makeup of our 2019 schedule." Michner said. "We've really got a great cross section of teams from different conferences and regions that will test us week in and week out."
Three straight road contests follow beginning with Kennesaw State (Aug. 29), before a trip to in-state rivals South Carolina (Sept. 1) who finished the 2018 season in the NCAA Round of 32 and ranked No. 18 in the nation. In-city rivals Charleston Southern are next up on Sept. 5 as the teams battle for the annual 'Silver Cup' which the Cougars have won for the past ten seasons.
Four final non-conference matchups await the Cougars with Winthrop visiting Patriots Point on Sept. 8, Charleston traveling to the UNCW Classic to face Virginia Tech and MTSU on Sept. 13 and 15 with Jacksonville visiting the Lowcountry on Sept. 20.
"It's important to me that our players are competing against teams that regularly contend for their conference championships and who also play in the NCAA tournament," Michner continued. "I know that the non-conference portion of our schedule is difficult and will prepare us for the intensity of playing in the CAA."
The CAA slate opens on Sept. 26 with a home matchup against Delaware before a two-match road swing at Drexel and UNCW on Sept. 26-29.
Hofstra visits Patriots Point on Oct. 6 with the Cougars travelling to JMU on Oct. 13. Elon are in town on Oct. 17 with one final CAA road weekend on Oct. 20-24 against Northeastern and William & Mary before the Cougars honor their senior class on the final match of the year against Towson on Oct. 27.
The CAA Championship will begin on the Nov. 1-3 weekend at conference sites with the championship held on Nov. 9 at the highest seed remaining's home field.
Men's and women's soccer season tickets go on sale July 1 with prices set at $40 for adults and $20 for youth (18 & under). Single game tickets go on sale Aug. 5 with prices set at $6 for adults and $3 for youth. For more ticket information visit cofcsports.com/tickets or call 843-953-COFC (2632)
