The Short Story: CofC was defeated by Winthrop in a back-and-forth match in the second extra time period.

• Winthrop got on the board first in the 34th minute to take a 1-0 lead.
• Gulledge knocks in his first goal of the season in the 36th minute after receiving a Myllerup pass and evened the score at 1-1.
• Just before halftime, Winthrop retook the lead at 2-1 in the 44th minute.
• Heffron settled a Myllerup pass and dished the ball out to Murray, where he let one fly at goal and evened the score at 2-2 in the 68th minute.
• In the second extra time golden goal period, the Eagles scored the game-winner to earn the victory.
WHAT'S NEXT
The Cougars will return home on Saturday, Sept. 28 to face off against William & Mary in a CAA matchup. The College will honor Head Coach Ralph Lundy with a field dedication ceremony before the start of the match.
