CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team has hit the road for the first time this season having made the long cross-country trek to Laramie, Wyo. to take on Northern Colorado, Buffalo and host Wyoming at the UniWyo Invite on Friday and Saturday.
 
THE OPPONENTS
Northern Colorado opened the season with wins over Rutgers and New Mexico as part of a 2-1 weekend at the Hampton Inn & Suites Northern Colorado Classic. Taylor Muff and Kailey Jo Ince pace the Bears' offense with 3.77 and 3.15 kills per set respectively; Daisy Schultz directs the attack to the tune of 11.46 assists per frame.
 
Wyoming carries a 1-2 mark into the second weekend following a sweep of Long Island University on Monday evening. Jackie McBride is averaging a team-high 3.33 kills per set while hitting a blistering .421. Mackenzie Coates has dished out a squad-best 74 assists while Faith Waitsman paces the Cowgirls with 11 blocks.
 
Buffalo is 1-2 on the season after picking up a 3-0 win over Marist at the UB Invite last weekend. Polina Prokudina leads the attack with 3.55 kills per set while Monika Simkova and Kristina Nieves are hitting at clips of .425 and .389 respectively. Abby Leigh and Lexi Nordmann are each averaging a team-best 1.71 blocks per set.

NOTABLES
  • The Cougars dropped a pair of matches to #1 Stanford and Michigan State at the CofC Classic last weekend to open the season.
  • Senior Lauren Freed and sophomore Sylvia Duggan paced the Cougars with an average of 2.00 kills per set on the opening weekend.
  • Freshman Tori Carpenter nearly posted a double-double with nine assists and eight digs against Michigan State.
  • Fellow freshman Emma Falk enjoyed a stellar collegiate debut with three kills on six swings to go along with a match-high four blocks in only two sets against the Spartans.
  • Kepner, the Cougars' all-time wins leader, needs 12 victories to reach the 300-mark for his career.
  • Charleston is picked third in the CAA Preseason Poll behind Hofstra and preseason favorite James Madison.
