CHARLESTON, S.C. --- The College of Charleston volleyball team travels to Wilmington, N.C. this weekend to continue its Colonial Athletic Association schedule with two matches against UNCW in Hanover Hall. First serve on Saturday is slated for 5:00 p.m. with a 1:00 p.m. start time scheduled for Sunday's match.
LAST TIME OUT
The Cougars split a two-match weekend series with William & Mary to open CAA play last weekend. Charleston defeated the Tribe, 3-1, in the opener before William & Mary rallied from a 2-1 deficit to edge the Cougars in five sets on Sunday. Sophomore
Logan Pope paced the Cougars with 21 kills while hitting .378 as
Emma Falk and
Claire Campbell combined for 28 blocks.
Logan Manusky led the way on the back row with 46 digs.
THE OPPONENT
UNCW enters the weekend with a 0-7 overall record and a 0-4 mark in conference play following a pair of losses at Elon last weekend. Kirsten Badowski leads the attack with an average of 3.23 kills per set while Jadyn Barry paces the defense with 3.04 digs per frame.
NOTABLES
- The Cougars are currently fourth in the CAA South Division standings with a 1-1 mark while UNCW is fifth at 0-4.
- Pope paces three Cougars averaging more than two kills per set, and has made only five errors thus far.
- Charleston ranks third in the nation in blocks per set (3.38) and eighth in opponent hitting percentage (.111).
- Falk ranks fourth nationally in blocks per set (1.75) and leads the CAA in that category.
- Head Coach Jason Kepner, the Cougars' all-time wins leader, needs three victories to reach the 300-mark for his career.
