Anastopoulo Earns 550th Women's Victory as CofC Extends Win Streak to 10

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. -- The College of Charleston women's tennis team (14-5, 3-0) picked up its tenth consecutive win on Tuesday, cruising to a 6-1 win over Tennessee-Martin on Tuesday afternoon at the CofC Tennis Center. The winning streak is the longest for the Cougars since 2008.

With the win, the Cougars move to 12-1 at home this season.

Head Coach Angelo Anastopoulo picked up his 550th career victory as the women's tennis coach at the College of Charleston. Anastopoulo is 11th on the all-time career wins list and ranks fifth among active coaches. In 31 seasons as the head coach of CofC women's tennis - including 10 as the men's coach - Anastopoulo has  endured just two losing seasons.

Head Coach Angelo Anastopoulo
"That's a good win over a UT-Martin team whose record is not indicative of how good they are," head coach Angelo Anastopoulo. "I would hate to play them come conference tournament time as they could be very dangerous. This has been a great 10-match win streak and we will try and extend that against a great team in Georgia Tech on Saturday. They are well coached by one of the top coaches in the country in Rodney Harmon. Hopefully we will have a good crowd out here to give us a little boost."

How It Happened
The Cougars got off to a quick start in doubles behind Slade Coetzee and Halli Trinkle's 6-0 win. Charleston completed the doubles sweep with 6-3 wins on courts two and three.

Coetzee and Trinkle improved to 11-4 as a duo, while Elizabeth Nowak/Maja Jekauc and Clara Errard/Kate Earnhardt moved to 9-3 and 8-3, respectively.

In singles, Maja Jekauc breezed her way to a 6-1, 6-1 victory on court three to give Charleston a 2-0 lead. CAA Player of the Week Slade Coetzee finished up second, winning 6-1, 6-2 on court one. Coetzee is 16-1 in singles competition this season.

On court two, Halli Trinkle picked up her 16th single victory of the season in a 6-4, 6-1 decision to clinch the winning point for the Cougars. CofC added their fifth point of the day with Victoria Walter winning 6-1, 6-1 on court six. On court four, Kate Earnhardt made it 6-0 with a 7-6, 6-4 victory.

UT-Martin would take the final match as CofC would win by a final of 6-1.
