CHARLESTON, S.C. --- College of Charleston volleyball fell in three sets (25-23, 25-23, 25-16) to visiting Stony Brook Sunday, splitting the weekend series.

Stony Brook (5-9, 1-3 CAA) took the first two sets from Charleston (4-11, 1-3 CAA) by identical 25-23 scores before closing out the match 25-16 in the third on six kills from both Kalli Moore and Leoni Kuntz. Moore would finish the day with a team-high 14 kills while Kuntz added 11 and Abby Campbell had 10 for the Seawolves.

Sopheea Mink matched her career-high with 14 kills to lead the Cougars, but the visiting Seawolves used nine blocks and held Charleston below .100 to force the weekend split.

Tynley Smeltzer had 20 digs in the loss to lead the Charleston backline once again as the junior finished the home weekend with 6 digs/set.

Match Notes

Sopheea Mink matched her previous career high with 14 kills and had a team-high .480 attack percentage while adding three digs and a block. Mink had at least four kills in each set with a match-high six in the opening stanza.
Tynley Smeltzer had her third 20-dig performance, all coming over the first four matches of CAA play. The junior Savannah, Ga. native is just 10 digs from 750 in her collegiate career.
Jasmin Goei collected her second double-double of the season on 24 assists and 11 digs. She finished the weekend with 11.20 assists per set and 3.20 digs per set.
Sunday marked the first win for the Seawolves in series history after the Cougars took the first three meetings.
Goei's double-double was the fifth by a Cougar this season joining Lexi Wierzbicki with multiple double-double performances.
Sunday was the first time a CAA opponent was able to hit .200 against the Cougars through two weekends of play as Stony Brook committed just 13 errors across three sets.
