Smeltzer Collects Fourth CAA Weekly Award

RICHMOND, Va. – College of Charleston libero Tynley Smeltzer was named CAA Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season, the league announced Monday.
Smeltzer finished the regular season on a high note as the libero paced Charleston's defensive efforts to win the regular season title and secure the No. 1 seed in the conference postseason. Smeltzer averaged 6.29 digs/set while adding in 7 assists and a pair of service aces across seven sets against Northeastern.
In Friday's match, Smeltzer became the eighth player in program history to reach 1,500 career digs and enters the postseason with the seventh-most in Charleston history. Smeltzer finished Friday's contest with 26 digs, four assists and two service aces.
Smeltzer has four weekly awards in each of the last two seasons.
Charleston heads to Towson, Md., to play in the 2024 CAA Volleyball Championships. The Cougars will face the winner of No. 4 Hofstra and No. 5 North Carolina A&T on Friday, Nov. 23, at 3 p.m.
