WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The College of Charleston softball team lost another tight game against the Hawks by a score of 4-3 on Sunday afternoon.
The Hawks struck first in the opening inning with a bases-loaded hit by pitch.Â
Malaka Belser and
Shealyn Starks each hit solo home runs in the fourth inning to take a 2-1 lead for the Cougars. Monmouth responded with back-to-back RBI triples in the bottom of the frame to regain their lead and added an insurance run in the fifth.
Halle Cannon's RBI triple in the sixth inning made it a one-run game, but the Cougars were unable to plate another.
Charleston will head upstate to Rock Hill on Wednesday to face Winthrop. First pitch is set for 4:00 p.m.
