Men's Soccer Comeback Falls Short at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C.  – The College of Charleston men's soccer team fell 3-2 on the road at Davidson Monday night. With the loss, Charleston moves to 0-2 on the season.

After a back-and-forth affair to start the contest, Caio Hughes sent a strike toward the box and found Lennon Gill for the one tap finish to put the Cougars up 1-0 at 36' mark.

Just 15 seconds later, Davidson evened the contest with a goal of their own to send the teams to locker room tied 1-1.

The Wildcats added their second tally to scoreboard five minutes into the second frame before doubling it on a 1 vs. 1 match-up seven minutes later. Both Davidson second half goals were scored by Tobe Ibe.

Ben Bagshaw had a late opportunity for Charleston, sending a dagger shot to the upper 90 of the goal in the 80' that was ultimately saved by the Davidson keeper.

With just two minutes left in regulation, Stian Bendvold scored his second career goal off the assist from Bagshaw. Time was not on the Cougars side, falling just short of the comeback.

The Cougars outshot Davidson 8-7 led by Gill with three and Bagshaw with two. Gill and Hughes recorded their first points of the season and as Cougars. Charlie Duske made two saves in goal.

Charleston returns to action on Friday, August 29 when the Cougars welcome Boston University to Patriots Point. Action is set for 7:00 p.m. on FloCollege.
