#articleRelated { display: none !important; } Carolyn Morris had a hand in all three College of Charleston first-half goals to lead the third-seeded Cougars to a 3-1 win over sixth-seeded Appalachian State in the first round of the 2004 Southern Conference Women's Soccer Championships at UNCG Soccer Stadium.

The Cougars improve to 12-4-3, while the Mountaineers end their season 10-9-1. The 12 wins by the Cougars is the most in the history of the program.

CofC advances to face #2 Furman, who beat Elon 7-0 in an earlier first round match, on Friday, November 5 at 5:00 p.m. In the regular season, Furman downed the Cougars 2-0 back on October 4 in Greenville, SC.

Teryn Schuetz opened the scoring for CofC when she gathered a pass from Carolyn Morris and found the back of the net at 3:32. Morris made it 2-0 at 7:58 when she tapped in a pass from Kristin Rhyne. The play began on an Abi Nicholas corner kick, which was headed by Rhyne over to Morris.

Morris found Amanda Andrews at 25:46 to up the CofC lead to 3-0 heading to halftime. Appalachian State pushed one across at 63:16 when Lindsay Moore scored her fifth goal of the year to cut its deficit to 3-1, but that was as close as the Mountaineers would get.

CofC goalkeeper Emily Brenner picked up the win, tallying two saves. Appalachian State goalkeeper Breland Meany picked up five saves in the setback.
