Women's Soccer Welcomes North Florida

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team hosts North Florida Sunday, Sept. 7 at Patriots Point with kickoff at 1:00 p.m. 

Charleston enters the match 1-3-1 after hosting their second ranked opponent of the season on Thursday in No. 17 Wake Forest falling 2-0 to the Deacons. Both Deacon goals came in the second half despite Charleston outshooting Wake 10-6. 

Emma Wennar leads CofC in goals on the season with two and starts in all five games. Wennar has taken 17 shots with six shots on goal. Tied with Wennar for shots on goal is Caroline Fowlkes also with six. Fowlkes has taken 14 shots total. 

The Cougars are leading their opponents in many fields taking 78 shots compared to its competitors 45. Charleston has surpassed all opponents in corners drawing 31 compared to its opponents 19. In the second half of all games played, Cougar goalies have made 12 saves over its opponents 11. 

North Florida sits at 2-3-2 on the season. North Florida lost to CAA foe Campbell on the road 1-0. The Ospreys have also played two SEC teams losing to Florida 5-0 and No. 13 Georgia 6-0. Most recently North Florida defeated Georgia Southern at home 3-2. 

The Cougars have met the Ospreys five times before with all matches on Cougar turf. Charleston's record against North Florida is 3-2. In the last meeting, Charleston defeated North Florida 2-0 in 2018, and the year prior Charleston won 3-0. 

The game will feature a Kid's Day promotion with a post-game clinic. There will be a face painter and balloon artist before kickoff. The link to sign your child up for the clinic is linked here.
