#articleRelated { display: none !important; } The College of Charleston clinched the doubles point and took five of six singles matches to defeat The Citadel 6-1 in Southern Conference tennis action Friday afternoon at the Earle Tennis Center.

The Bulldogs fall to 9-10, 5-5 SoCon while the Cougars improve to 12-7, 7-3 SoCon.

The College of Charleston secured an early 1-0 advantage as they won two of three doubles matches. The Bulldogs' No. 1 pair, freshmen Daniel Dossetor and James Eason, downed Mike Reynolds and Philipp Koller 8 4. Senior Liran Kling and junior Timo Siebert won at the No. 2 spot 8-2 for the Cougars.

The Cougars then clinched the doubles point as freshman Jimmy Petit and sophomore Justin Molina had a 9-8 (7) victory at No. 3.

The Cougars then picked up wins at No. 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 singles to solidify the victory. Reynolds finished first at No. 5 with a 6-2, 6-3 mark over junior Nick Medica. Bulldog freshman Ananda Sawmynaden fell to Kling in the
No. 2 contest. Malina then clinched the match for the Cougars at the No. 4 spot as he downed junior David Lara 7-5, 6-0 to make the score 4-0.

Eason was the lone winner for the Bulldogs as he defeated Koller 6-3, 7-6 (7) at No. 3 singles.

The Citadel now travels to Charlotte, NC to take on UNC-Charlotte on Sunday, April 17 at 1pm. The Bulldogs and 49ers were slated to play in March but the match was rescheduled due to rain. The Cougars will return to the Donald C. Bunch courts on Thursday, April 21 to participate in the Southern Conference Championships hosted by The Citadel.
