The Cougars improve to 1-1 overall, while the Pirates drop to 4-2 on the year.
Charleston opened play, winning the doubles point, by taking the number two and three doubles by a score of 8-4 apiece. Number one doubles was not finished.
The closest match of the day was the 6-4, 1-6, 7-6 win by Omer Abramovich over ECU's Nick Rose at number four singles. Number three singles was not finished with Justin Malina winning 7-5, 3-0 when play was suspended.
The Pirates host Campbell the 18th at 10:30 AM and North Carolina A&T at 4:00 PM in Greenville, N.C., while the Cougars travel to Winthrop the 17th for a 2:00 PM match.
