The College of Charleston's two second-half goals were not enough, as the Cougars lose to Charlotte, 3-2, Friday night at Patriot's Point.
Charlotte (4-3-2) scored the first goal of the match in the 28th minute through an unassisted goal by Nikki Labuda to give the 49ers an early 1-0 advantage. Charlotte added another unassisted goal in the 33rd minute when Hailey Beam netted home a shot make the score, 2-0.
Jen Callahan scored the final goal of the match for Charlotte in the 41st minute to give the 49ers a 3-0 lead into halftime.
CofC (2-4-1) began their valiant comeback in the second half with a goal in the 52nd minute by junior
Kelly McGinty that was assisted by freshman
Chrissy Caruso. The Cougars continued to push their offensive attack in the second half and were rewarded in the 64th minute when sophomore
Danielle Jordan scored an unassisted goal to make the score of the match, 3-2.
CofC had 10 shots in the match, while Charlotte had 14.

Erin Smith had seven saves in the match for the Cougars.
The Cougars' next match will be against Charleston Southern (3-3-1) for the Silver Cup on Sept. 26 at the CSU Soccer Field. The match will begin at 3 p.m.
