CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team was defeated 2-0 by No. 17 Wake Forest at Patriots Point Thursday, Sept. 4.
Charleston held Wake scoreless through the first half. The Deacons found a goal in the 48th minute to make the score 1-0. Wake added their second and final goal of the evening in the 74th minute.
The Cougars outshot the Deacons 6-2 in the first half controlling the attack. Both teams found four shots in the second. Five Cougars took shots on goal led by
Emma Wennar with two.
Ainsley Chunn had three saves on the night of Wake's five shots on goal. Wake Forest's goalie faced three more shots than Chunn, forcing her to make six saves on the night.
Charleston stays at home this weekend and returns to Patriots Sunday, Sept. 7 to host North Florida with kickoff slated for 1:00 p.m. The game will feature a Kid's Day promotion with a post-game clinic.
