Harrington's 10th Inning Single Downs UTSA, 4-2

Michael Harrington's two-out, two-run single in the 10th inning lifted 30th-ranked College of Charleston to a 4-2 win over Texas-San Antonio in college baseball action before 132 at Nelson Wolff Stadium on Sunday.
The Cougars improved to 13-3 with the win. The Roadrunners fell to 6-10.
In the 10th inning, the Cougars loaded the bases on three walks with two outs off UTSA righty Zach Calhoon. Harrington followed with his game-winning hit on a 2-0 pitch that scored Oliver Marmol and Stuart Haywood to give Charleston a 4-2 lead.
The Cougars scratched for a run in the top of the seventh. Harrington and Alex Garabedian led off the frame with singles to left and Graham Maiden walked on four pitches to load the bases with no outs.
After Ben Lasater popped out, Michael Kohn's grounder to second scored Harrington for a 1-0 Charleston lead.
Charleston stretched its lead to 2-0 in the eighth. Marmol led off with a walk, and after moving to third on an errant throw on a pickoff attempt by pitcher Blake Brannon, scored on Haywood's single down the left field line.
UTSA tied it in the ninth at 2-all. Trent Lockwood's one-out single to center started the rally. UTSA cut the margin to 2-1 when Ryan Saltzgaber's single to right was misplayed by Jedd Cordisco allowing pinch runner Phillip Allen to score from first with Saltzgaber reaching third. Mitch Ponza's single to center scored Saltzgaber to tie the game.
Both starters pitched well. Charleston lefty Jeff Beliveau allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits over 8 1/3 innings of work. He walked four and struck out six. UTSA pitcher Blake Brannon allowed two runs, one earned, on six hits with eight strikeouts over seven innings.
Mike Lynn (1-1) blanked UTSA with a strikeout over the final 1 2/3 innings for the win. Calhoon (1-1) suffered the loss allowing two runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief.
The Cougars play host to Eastern Illinois in a 6:00 start at Patriots Point Field on Wednesday.
