CRITICAL POINTS AGAINST GEORGIA SOUTHERN:
- Freshman Nick Diaz drove in a pair on a two-out double down the left field line.
- Trailing 5-2, redshirt junior Braeden Smith collected an RBI single in the third before the Cougars cut the deficit to one in the fifth courtesy of graduate Will Tippett's single.
- Georgia Southern scored four in the bottom of the half of the frame to go up 9-4.
- Charleston plated its final run of the ballgame in the eighth on a graduate Dylan Johnson groundout.
- Redshirt senior Alex Lyon tossed 3.1 shutout innings of relief, yielding just one base hit in his 98th career appearance.
- Redshirt senior Ethan Plyler and Tippett each had three hits Tuesday while Diaz and graduate Reece Holbrook had two.
OF NOTE:
- Charleston is 41-41 in the series with Georgia Southern.
- Plyler extended his hitting streak to 10 games and has eight multi-hit performances with five three-hit contests in that stretch.
- CofC has at least 14 hits in the last three games and double-digit hits in six of the last eight.
