Boone, N.C. ? After 110 minutes of play, the College of Charleston women's soccer team played to a 0-0 draw with the Appalachian State Mountaineers.
The Cougars (4-5-1) are unbeaten in their last two contests while App State, winless in its last two, falls to 5-1-3.
"I'm proud of the performance of the girls to get a point," Head Coach Kevin Dempsey said. "To play a player down for that long and still be the better team at the toughest road venue in the conference is a credit to our players. Now we have to regroup and get ready for another tough match with Georgia Southern."
Cougar defenders Alanna Jordan and Amanda Raymond held the Mountaineers to only eight shots. CofC made 11 shot attempts.
CofC goalie Sarah Wiggers and App State keeper Emma White each had three saves on the afternoon.
After a player ejection (37:21), the Cougars continued to play down one player for the remainder of the match. The physical match saw a combined total of 34 fouls.
The Cougars remain unbeaten in Conference play with a SoCon record 1-0-1. CofC returns home to host Georgia Southern Thurs., Oct. 4, at 7 at Patriots Point Field in Mt. Pleasant, S.C.
