CofC W. Soccer Falls to Auburn

AUBURN, Ala. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team fell, 3-0, at Auburn on Friday night in the first of a two-match Southeastern Conference road swing.

CofC (2-5 overall) kept the Tigers off the board in the first half, but three second-half goals earned the Tigers the victory.

“Our girls fought hard and played well,” said head coach Christian Michner. “We gave up some pretty weak goals though and it's tough to recover from that. The stats don't tell the story of the match. We had the ball and created chances. We were always in the match.”

Eli Sarasola (San Sebastian, Spain) played the entirety in goal and made seven saves on the night.

Auburn sisters Casie and Brooke Ramsier both picked up a goal with assists from Tori Ball in the 51st and 66th minutes, respectively. Chelsea Gandy-Cromer scored the third goal in the 79th minutes on a corner sent in by Bianca Sierra.

The Cougars will have little time to rest before another grueling challenge against an SEC opponent in Georgia. The Cougars and Bulldogs are set to square off from the Turner Soccer Complex in Athens, Ga., on Sunday at 2 p.m.

“We schedule these games to win and we'll have our work cut out for us on Sunday,” said Michner. “We have to regroup in less than 48 hours and be ready to go against another great program in the SEC. It's going to be a test of character and show us what we're made out of.”
