W. Soccer Hosts International Friendly with Trinidad and Tobago

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The College of Charleston women's soccer team brings world class soccer to Patriots Point when it hosts the Trinidad and Tobago Women's National Team in an international friendly on Thursday, March 20 at Patriots Point. Kickoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.

The programs meet again after the Cougars spent 10 days training and playing matches as well as touring and doing community service in the Caribbean island nation. The Cougars met the national team twice during the trip and split the contests, falling 2-1 in the opener but avenging that with a 4-1 victory the second time around.

"We are so excited to have Trinidad and Tobago in Charleston to train and play matches over the next week,” said CofC head coach Christian Michner. “Any time you have a full national team in town, it's a very big deal. This team is very good and we are expecting a hard-fought match on Thursday night.

"The national team is led by one of the legends in world soccer, Mr. Anton Corneal, as he is one of the best soccer minds around. I have an incredible amount of respect for Coach Corneal and his staff and know that we are extremely fortunate to have this opportunity. I would encourage everyone to come out and support the Cougars and get to see one of the up-and-coming soccer powers in CONCACAF."

The Trinidadian side is in The States to train for the first round of the Women's World Cup Qualifiers to be held in early May. They are working to qualify for the 2015 FIFA Women's World Cup in Canada, the first in program history.
